Prom Country History & Foster Museum

The museum is now OPEN Sundays 11 to 3pm and Wednesdays. It will also open for Group booking. The Museum will CLOSE after July 9 apart from Groups  Booking, until the next school holidays. Look for the sandwich sign which will be displayed during opening hours

A new exhibition "Fashions in Focus" has been installed and can be viewed during 2024 opening hours.

The Foster and District Historical Society Inc. operate a volunteer-run museum situated in the Main Street of Foster, Victoria.

See how the district developed from the discovery of gold in 1870, the growth of the dairy and fishing industries, the establishment of Wilsons Promontory National Park in 1906 – Victoria’s first National Park, to the thriving district of the 21st century.

Far from being uninhabited, Corner Inlet and Stockyard Creek were teaming with industry. The timber traders, Chinese fisherman, miners and pastoralists used the waters of the inlet rather than the land.
